Tonight we have another young comedian with us again. She took the big brave dive into the world of stand-up comedy in 2012 and emerged with her head held high with performances dotted all over the world, her name is Luwita Hana Randhawa!
Luwita is an all rounder with being a writer, a photographer and when the stage calls for her, a stand-up comedian she becomes. She was born in KL, raised in South Africa and Brazil. She came back in 2012 after studying in Wellington, New Zealand for her theater and film studies.
In the same year of her return, she joined the open mic scene of Malaysian stand-up comedy. Her first show was Comedy Kao-kao in 2012 with our last week guest, Thenesh! By September 2012, she won the Best Female Newcomer Award at KLPAC’s Short+Sweet Malaysia Stand Up Comedy Festival.
For 2013, she decided to bring it up a notch by making it a point to perform wherever she travelled. She criss-crossed through Australia, Cambodia, Hong Kong and Singapore throughout the year. When 2014 rolled by, she got her own solo show, Nothing To Be Done at the New Zealand Fringe Fest.
By 2015, Luwita is now a regular opening act for many international headliners at the Crackhouse Comedy Club and just last weekend, she was up with Thenesh Skip and Gajen Nad for Minority Retort. Both night shows were sold out!
For the record, Luwita scored 14!
