Derek 'Jingles' Jhingoree

Tonight we have a man who’s music is literally all he does. His name is Derek Jhingoree or more affectionately known by ‘Jingles’; he’s a UK born man who’s a world class bassist and also runs his own talent management company here in sunny/perpetually raining Malaysia.

 

Jingles career started when won an audition for Howard Jones. Jones picked up on how well Jingles plays the bass and took him under his wing as he brought Jingles on tour with him. As his experience grew, Jingles soon became a world class musician in his own right. He started playing bigger roles in music as with opening his own management company in 1991 back in Surrey, England.

 

As a musical director, Jingles has overseen the careers of multiple artists such as Mark Morrison (Germany), BBMak (British boy band), our own Gerard ‘G’ Singh and Jacklyn Victor. When he came here, he set up his current music management called Jingles Management Sdn Bhd. Jingles is committed in developing the creative talent of Malaysians; from the singers, songwriters, presenters and the models too.

 

Jingles is associated with a few record labels with Lakefront Records as the most notable one. Lakefront is the first Malaysian record label to have a signed artist on the US Billboard. He’s still plays the bass for artists in and around SE Asia; for artists like Wang Lee Hom, Ning Baizura, David Tao.
