Remember when jazz was dance music? Probably not; as most of us will never know how the 30s and 40s were -- where jazz was more than just than a spectator genre. However, more jazz acts today are aiming to bring jazz back into the dance-floor with electronic-sequencing, programming, DJing - further proving the dynamicity of the genre.Call it nu-jazz, jazztronica, jazz house, but one thing is for sure - it's one of most exciting developments in music for decades.
This week, we celebrate the successful fusions of electronica and jazz from all over the globe with tracks from the legendary Herbie Hancock, Japanese outfit Kyoto Jazz Massive, a blatant collaboration of electronic-giant Daedalus and quintet Kneebody, left-field producer and Brainfeeder head-honcho Flying Lotus and many more.
