The Age of Photographic Reproduction

“What the Photograph reproduces to infinity has occurred only once: the Photograph mechanically repeats what could never be repeated existentially,” wrote French philosopher Roland Barthes in “Camera Lucida: Reflections on Photography”. Today we explore why and how the photographic image has come to be such a ubiquitous part of our lives and reference many thinkers who has sought to theorize this phenomenon.
