As of December 2013, Malaysia hosts close to a quarter million refugees, asylum-seekers and people in refugee-like situations. Refugees are not distinguished from undocumented migrants and remain vulnerable to arrest and subject to detention, prosecution and deportation. We speak today to Simon Henshaw, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration within the U.S. State Department, about what can be done to resolve the issue of refugee resettlement.
