Human rights activist Irene Fernandez died of heart failure on March 31st, at age 67. She left the relative security of a government job as a school teacher at 23 years-old and chose a life of activism and advocacy, championing the rights of women and migrant workers in Malaysia. Irene spoke to BFM on numerous occasions in the past, and on this special episode of Live and Learn, we put together a shortened version of a previous interview in which she shared her thoughts on shelter homes and the plight of abused foreign migrant workers in Malaysia.
