According to the Ethnologue Report, there are 140 listed languages in Malaysia, of which 52 and 46 are indigenous to Sabah and Sarawak respectively. What does it take to keep minority languages alive for posterity? We ask Dr. Kuldip Kaur from Khalsa Dhwan Malaysia, an organization which runs Punjabi language education centers, and Dr. Stefanie Pillai, a Kristang expert and associate professor at Universiti Malaya.
