The recent conviction of 23-year-old Nur Fitri’s as a producer and consumer of child pornographic materials in the UK generated much public debate in Malaysia about how our legal system would punish pedophiles and the legal implications of his eventual return. As no effective treatment for pedophilia currently exists, we ask lawyer Honey Tan about laws criminalizing paedophilia as well as the merits of setting up a sex offenders registry.
