Picking up a stray dog or cat off the street and giving it to a shelter can provide an altrustic glow, a feeling of having done some good for a forgotten animal. But what happens to the animal once it goes into the shelter? It may still need shots, deworming, vaccinations, not to mention the food it will need to stay alive. What role should rescuers play in this?
Sabrina Yeap, founder of Furry Friends Farm, a shelter that houses 150 dogs and 100 cats discusses the issue of responsible rescuing, along with her plans for World Animal Day 2011.
