Prof. Avital Ronell, a revered philosophy professor at New York University, was recently found responsible for sexually harassing a former graduate student of hers, Nimrod Reitman. Prof Ronell has been suspended for the coming academic year, and it's been revealed that a group of scholars from around the world, including prominent feminists like Judith Butler, had sent a letter to N.Y.U. in defense of Professor Ronell. Many are seeing this letter -- which focused on the potential damage to Professor Ronell’s reputation and victim-blamed -- as echoing past defenses of powerful men facing similar accusations. So what happens to the #MeToo movement, when a feminist is the accused? We discuss this and more with Chua Ern Teck, Sharmilla Ganesan and Lee Chwi Lynn, who are all producers and presenters at BFM89.9
