This week, the Hindu-Tamil community celebrate Ponggal, a four-day harvest festival with special religious significance. The word Pongal literally means "boiling over" and is traditionally celebrated by Hindus to mark the harvesting of the bounteous crops in the fields.
Shankar Kandasamy of The Temple of Fine Arts, walks us through each of the four days of the festival, while explaining its rich history, customs and importance.
