Yalda Hakim was born in Afghanistan, but fled with her family in the 1980s when Russia invaded the country. She was just six months old then, and her family eventually settled in Australia. It was not until 2008 that she returned to her country of birth as a journalist, retracing her parents steps on those long, dark and harrowing nights more than three decades ago. Yalda is today a presenter and correspondent for BBC World News. We speak to her about the demands of her role as well as the challenges of reporting from conflict zones.
