The Evolution of Batik

Though the exact origin of batik is unknown, the technique can be traced as far back as 4th century BCE in Egypt, where it was used to wrap mummies. How did it evolve from that to become a Malaysian heritage today? This show does not have the answer to that but batik designer Abdul Munir Yahya Nasution gives us a brief history of the Malaysian batik industry, its evolution over the years as well as its enduring appeal.
