The number of older persons in Asia-Pacific is expected to be more than 1.26 billion by 2050. Based on that, the burden of healthcare is expected to increase exponentially around the region. We discuss the policies and technologies needed to address the health concerns of an ageing population with Walter Van Kuijen of Royal Philips, the Netherlands, who was in Malaysia in June for the World Economic Forum on ASEAN.
