The Malaysian Rare Disorders Society (MRDS) has defined a disease as a rare disorder if it has an incidence of 1 in 4000 people or more. As such diseases are not widely known, sufferers do not have a sufficient support system or understanding.
Delving deeper into that issue are Allida Muhammad Said, parent of a child with a rare disorder and exco member of the MRDS and Juliana Lee, a genetic counsellor, discussing the work that the society does and what needs to be done in the future.
