A leading cause of disfigurement and disability worldwide, lymphatic filariasis is a tropical disease that affects mainly people living in poverty and dire straits. While more than 1.3 billion people in 72 countries worldwide continue to suffer from this, it remains on the list of potentially eradicable diseases, provided we push the right initiatives forward.
Sharing his knowledge on the disease and its treatment is Professor Emeritus Dato' Dr. CP Ramachandran, the former Chief of Filariasis Research and Control in the WHO and now in Akademi Sains Negara, who has decades of experience in research and devotion to eradicating this disease.
