Are you signing up your child for coding classes because you want her to be a tech tycoon? Or for singing and dancing classes to turn him into the next Youtube star? This practice of putting children on an intensive and accelerated learning path is called “hothousing”. But are parents really helping their kids by equipping them with these skills? Or are they overparenting children? Consultant developmental paediatrician Dr Rajini Sarvananthan weighs in.
