In Malaysia, we have about 14,000 kidney patients waiting for transplants, a process that is complicated by the need to match blood types. However, there's been a recent breakthrough, as the nation’s first successful blood group incompatible (otherwise known as ABO incompatible or ABOi) kidney transplant was performed recently at Prince Court Medical Centre. Professor Dr. Tan Si Yen, who played a major driving role in the process talks to us about it.
