A great contemporary literary voice passed away this past week, Maya Angelou: an internationally renowned poet, educator, historian and author. Add to that list, an accomplished actress, playwright, producer, and director. She received an emmy nomination for best supporting actress in the television series Roots (Alex Haley) and received the coveted Golden Eagle Award for the PBS documentary "Afro-American in the Arts."
