When one thinks of butterflies or rivers in art, one might think of it as a photograph or a painting, a static image. Whereas films are filled with movement, dialogue, music. Experimental films aim to reinvent that idea, positing films as a medium with which one can do almost anything with self expression and narrative and voices are optional.
The 2nd Kuala Lumpur Experimental Film and Video Festival celebrates this idea, and festival director Kok Siew Wai tells us more about the art form and what to expect from the festival.
