A medical doctor by training, Dr. Abdul Ghani Hussain started collecting plants with medicinal values after being unable to cure his own wife with modern medicine, due to her allergic reactions to them. From there, he started a germplasm bank, a collection of genetic material of plants for the purpose of storing it in perpetuity to ensure that such important floral biodiversity remains available and preserved. He joins us to discuss his efforts in the conservation and preservation of the flora of Langkawi, in particular, the mangrove and medicinal flora.
