The U.S. Commerce Department has imposed preliminary duties on solar imports from Southeast Asia, alleging illegal subsidies in nations such as Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. While aimed at supporting American manufacturers, this decision could increase costs for solar projects and slow the country’s renewable energy transition.
