As many unfortunate Malaysians face the unpleasant scenario of foreclosure, many are also unaware of their rights in such a situation. A seemingly fair and frank equation (you owe bank money, you fail to pay, bank seizes property) is tipped off its balance as Dr Ernest Cheong demonstrates how the playing field is uneven. Lack of notice, no access to legal representation and even fraudulent bank officials all play a role in rendering an undesirable situation completely hopeless.
