The quest to achieve global competitive excellence requires both government help and innovation from private enterprises. It's a fine balance between too much or too little bureaucracy as well as technological spend. The numbers reveal increasing SME contribution to the GDP but does this reflect FMM's vision to achieve global competitive excellence? There are also longer term consideration in how educational quality, government crowding out and freedom of thought affect overall manufacturing innovation.
