The various quantitative easing policies (QEs) have pushed up prices of financial assets and widened inequality. The World Development Report 2015 on "Mind, Society, and Behaviour" explores psychological and cognitive dimensions in addressing poverty but that depends on how quickly such thoughts can be translated to policy. This is coming at a time when the so-called Washington Consensus (loosely comprising the IMF, World Bank and US politicians) is being challenged by China's Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
