The Police (Amendment) Bill 2024 was passed with little fanfare in the Dewan Rakyat last week but has since sparked significant debate. The bill also increases penalties for several offences, including obstructing police orders and failing to comply with instructions with fines potentially reaching up to RM10,000 and up to two years imprisonment.
