The Mufti Bill, which will be tabled for a second and third reading in this Parliamentary session, has been receiving a lot of pushback from various parties, with reasons given that it is unconstitutional, non-inclusive, and the fact that it would give powers to religious authorities in way of legal immunity. These arguments have been dismissed by Religious Affairs Minister Datuk Dr Na'im Mokhtar, but these concerns still persist. We speak to Rozana Isa, executive director of Sisters In Islam, to understand the various facets of this bill, and why there's been so much opposition to it.
