Animal welfare has somewhat become a hot topic in the past few years in Malaysia. We constantly have a steady stream of animal abuse cases in the news.
In addition to that, there is also a concern with the inhumane method that our local councils are implementing towards controlling the population of stray animals.
And today, PAWS (Paws Animal Welfare Society) have been asked to relocate from a home that they’ve known for 28 years near Subang airport. They have been given 14 days to relocate over 400 dogs and 200 cats - if they don’t they face a hefty fine.
The animal welfare situation in Malaysia just doesn’t seem to be improving and the number of animal neglect and abuse cases is ever increasing. What does this say about us as Malaysians? Do we lack empathy when it comes to animals?
