Ever so often we hear about accidents claiming lives - the latest example is the overloaded boat tragedy that happened in Balui River, Sarawak. The last boat tragedy was back in 2010, and that claimed 13 lives. Last year, we had a spate of express bus accidents that claimed lives too, and investigations revealed later that the error was human and the cause was always due to violation of traffic rules. Safety rules are put in place to try and avoid accidents from happening. But somehow we’re ignorant when it comes to abiding by the rules. Today we’re asking why is it Malaysians lack complete respect when it comes to safety rules and regulations?
