Talkback Tuesday: SPM Forecast Results

Parents are up in arms again, and this time it’s about the Ministry of Education’s decision to bar Form 5 students from applying for pre-university programmes using their SPM forecast results. The announcement came as a shock to all; parents and private institutions most of all.

Forecast results, in practice at least, have been used by private institutions upon which students are given a place at the college under a conditional offer. The actual SPM results would then be shared once it is released, where a student must achieve 5 credits. If they fail to produce 5 credits, they will be forced to leave the programme.
The issue parents and students have with this decision to not use forecast results is that further studies will have to be postponed a year later.

On this episode of Talkback we asked: Do you agree that students should not be allowed to apply for private institutions using SPM forecast results?
