Last Monday, Utusan Malaysia reported that Ibrahim Abu Shah, a former Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) deputy chancellor and Malay Consultative Council President, had called on the ministry to abolish meritocracy in the current education system. His reasons were centred around how the focus should be on the interests of Malay students from all aspects, including teaching methods to the allocation of scholarship.
