Our resident literary critic talks to Dr Spence, an Anthony Burgess scholar, on the writer’s early writings, and one which depicts Malaya in its early days. ‘The Malayan Trilogy’ is made up of ‘Time for a Tiger’ (1956), ‘The Enemy in Blanket’ (1958) and ‘Beds in the East’ (1959).
