A recent social media report from Nielsen stated that 46 per cent of Malaysian social media users interact online on social channels via their mobile phones. More interestingly in another study by Nielsen also showed that while smartphone penetration in Malaysia earlier in 2012 stood at around 27 percent, 79 percent of those planning to upgrade their phones in the next six months planned to purchase a smartphone. The jump in mobile use is accompanied by a boost in mobile infrastructure spending, and presents a whole new set of opportunities to advertisers. Robert Woolfrey, Managing Director Southeast Asia for Millennial Media talks about the mobile advertising trends in SEA for 2013 and beyond.
