In November 2013, the government enacted the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), aimed at protecting the interest of individuals and to give them more control over their personal data. While the PDPA has increased the protection of invaluable data that has the potential of being commoditized, one of the main challenges facing some businesses is the lack of IT capacity or technology know-how to implement the necessary mechanisms that will facilitate data owners to exercise their rights as part of the PDPA.
