Apologies work; authentic, heartfelt empathy diffuses anger and builds relationships and drives business profitability. Even more so when it comes from the top, as organisations get their cue from their leaders. CEOs need to role-model this behaviour in order to make it safe for others to apologise and admit to mistakes.
