In 1958, Mr Kewley, an English engineer, designed a system for putting pieces of wood and steel corner-profiles together to form a very solid structure. A year later, he registered a patent for it. He used the name "Kewlox" for his invention, a contraction between his own name and the interlocking aspect of his invention. Soon after, Kewlox was discovered by a Belgian metal products merchant, at a London trade show and decided to buy the license. Kewlox Cabinets was born! Its revolutionary design makes the pieces of cabinets fit together without nails or screws, and can be assembled without any tools. In a way, assembling a Kewlox Cabinet is a sort of magic carpentry. We spoke to Jaap Henkemans, the sole distributor for Kewlox Cabinets Malaysia about this fifty year old modular storage concept.
