Rather than seen as trash, plastic bottles are now being viewed as a cheap and sustainable way to light homes. With just a plastic bottle, water and bleach, the world’s cheapest light bulb produces 55 - 65 watts of clear light that lasts up to 10 months. The Liter of Light began in the Philippines with one bottle light. Eventually, the movement grew to brighten up 28,000 homes and the lives of 70,000 people in Metro Manila alone. Now Liter of Light is present in India, Indonesia, and even as far away as Switzerland.
