WhatsApp Groups As Part Of Company Policy?

In a recently published article on asklegal.my, they discussed how an employee of a local telco company was fired because they left a WhatsApp group. Though it might not be as black and white as it seems, it raises a bigger question of whether these groups should be part of company policy or whether you have the right to digital privacy.
