Last year, the Shah Alam City Council released its draft local plan for public consultation. In it, was a proposal to build a road right across the Shah Alam Community Forest, which would permanently destroy about two hectares of pristine rainforest, hundreds of trees and species, and all the forest trails many have come to love. But a new study has found that the area has been wrongly designated as development land, and is in fact still part of a Permanent Forest Reserve. We find out more about this study and why the Selangor state government should pay attention to the findings.
