The 24-hour mamak stall is a Malaysian institution. And so it comes as a shock to many Malaysians when Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, said that the government is considering a proposal to clamp down on these eateries and restrict operating hours until midnight at the latest.
