Almost one in five Malaysian adults suffers from diabetes. You could be one of them. There is clearly an urgent need for diabetes to be part of the national conversation. Yet, the numbers keep rising and diabetes complications, like amputations and kidney failure, continue unabated. Dr Zanariah Hussein, Consultant Endocrinologist, Hospital Putrajaya, maps out our current approach to managing diabetes, and where to refocus our priorities.
