With the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent need to avoid public gatherings, as well as the implementation of the Movement Control Order, art exhibitions, galleries, and museums have been forced to shut their doors. This has affected not just planned shows and exhibitions, but in many cases, the livelihoods of artists. We speak with artists Sharon Chin, Rupa Subramaniam, and Haris Rashid, about the challenges being faced by visual artists, what needs to be done, and what the way forward might be.
