In 2013, the total energy demand per capita was 1.72 tonnes of oil per person. With a population of 29.72 million, imagine the total energy consumption of our country. Our country relies primarily on fossil fuels, while renewable energy only makes up 1% of our fuel mix. This immense gap in our energy consumption presses on our need to turn to renewable energy, and to maximise the efficiency of our current energy systems.
