78 Minutes a Day Keeps the Blues Away

A recent study by the British Academy of Sound Therapy found that listening to an average of 78 minutes of music a day improves our mental health. Regardless of genre or type of music, the emotional connection we form with music brings us through five different moods such as overcoming sadness and aiding concentration. Dr Indra Selvarajah, president of the Malaysian Music Therapy Association and the first PhD qualified music therapist in Malaysia, gives us an insight on the science behind music therapy and how it can be applied to our daily lives.
