A Counter-Cyclical Tax Reform

IDEAS has proposed a tax reform that focuses on pairing imposition of indirect taxes like GST and capital gains tax with a reduction in direct taxes like income and corporate tax. While this may temper consumption, it has the effect of increasing savings, leading to higher levels of investment which is what the country currently needs.
