Parliamentary Reforms Part 2: The Lawmaker's Perspective

Last year, the Dewan Rakyat speaker announced several planned parliamentary reforms for 2016. The proposed reforms include the establishment of parliamentary select committees, Prime Minister’s question time sessions and reintroduction of the Parliamentary Services Act.

We explore suggestions on how to make our Parliament and state assemblies more effective in crafting, debating and passing laws and public policy, best practices that can be emulated from the parliaments of other Commonwealth nations, and the need for training and a Code of Conduct for our lawmakers.

This is a report by Jason Lim and Jenn Beh.
