KTB’s Cityliner stage bus service has been suspended due to severe losses [RM 8mil annually] that are a result of alleged low fares, fares of which are controlled and fixed by the Federal government.
Earlier, KTB had requested assistance from the Selangor state government to help it keep operations afloat for the good of the public. Unfortunately, the state government has rejected its request for help.
Selangor MB’s press secretary confirmed that there is no allocation for subsidising public transportation in Selangor’s 2012 Budget.
(Selangor current budget for 2012: RM 1.9 Billion)
KTB is now looking to the Federal government for help through the Land and Public Transport Commission (Spad).
“Spad - you are our only hope!”
Until then, or until the issue is resolved, the ones left suffering are the general public.
