It was reported in January 2015 that the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry were proposing to abolish only the caning of minors in court. This clarified initial reports saying that a proposal was put in by the ministry to outlaw the caning of children by parents and teachers. But the ministry added that as a signatory of the CRC, Malaysia was obligated to end corporal punishment for children. And that's what we asked: Should all forms of caning be abolished in Malaysia?
