One of the battles we’ve been fighting for a long time is to end the stigmatisation of mental illnesses. But what's also harmful is to romanticise them, as seen in glamourised portrayals of negative emotions on films and social media. We discuss the healthy and unhealthy ways of speaking about mental illnesses with Dr. Chua Sook Ning, clinical psychologist and founder of RELATE Malaysia, as well as Lim Su Lin from Penang Institute in KL, where she’s a research analyst on the mental healthcare system in Malaysia.
