Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi said the guidelines on the punishment of students as practiced in the Western education system are not suitable to be adopted in Malaysian schools. We unpack this statement and talk about the role of discipline within our school system, and specifically, whether physical punishment is ever the answer.
